Overview
The web-based calculator BulkStox® originated from the standalone SiloStox® program which was developed to readily determine volumes of grain stored only in vertical silos. SiloStox® covers the most commonly observed configurations for inloaded & outloaded grain stored round vertical silos. Once the commodity is selected, the model dynamically loads typical bulk-density & angles of repose which can be adjusted to suit.
A product enhancement to the SiloStox® code resulted in the development & release of the innovative algorithm, named BunkerStox® which calculates approximate volumes & tonnage of grain stored under tarpaulins in bunkers. The simplicity of the logic requires only six measurements need be made on-site. The tool incorporates pad-type bunkers with sloping, &/or vertical walls whose closed ends are rounded or square. Development to accommodate sloped sites with cambered floors is in the final stages of user-testing.
The latest iteration to the BulkStox® suite is ShedStox® which is being trialled at upcountry locations. It uses known shapes to approximate the bulk being estimated. An truly innovative approach.
Combined, SiloStox®, BunkerStox®, & ShedStox® comprise BulkStox® and further developments will look to incorporate volumetric liquid tanks.

The quantity survey of commodities held in storage is, at its heart, a relatively simple process. All it requires is to gauge or measure the volume of the commodity from which, knowing its density, the mass of commodity can be calculated. Simple? Well not so much in practise so this blog is provided as a high level overview of the theory and practise of stock assessment.

The audit of storages to assess the suitability to house commoditised inventory is an essential service offer from SigmaCubed. Developed over a number of years, the objective and robust methodology applied will allow financiers & traders looking to spread risk into the burgeoning independent storage & handling market; this includes audits of storages holding grain on farm.
About the App
The NVT Long Term Yield Reports have had their accuracy and relevance greatly improved through the introduction of a technologically improved analysis methodology and data reporting system. The new system produces results across different ’Ranking Groups’ which are groups of trials where the yield performances of varieties rank similarly.
About SieveMatic
Grain Trade Australia (GTA) is the peak industry body and it recognises the benefits of objective assessment of all measured quality parameters. A reference method is required for all Standards but industry allows for any field assessment method to be used providing it correlates to the respective reference method. For Screenings and Unmillable Material assessment in cereals, the documented industry quality standards have as their reference a mechanical device.
So, it was in this context that SieveMatic was developed to provide a new, innovative and technologically advanced alternative to the existing technology applied to the objective assessment of Screenings and Unmillable Material in grains and pulses.
