BulkStoxexcel

Overview

Like its web-enabled counterpart, the excel model is purely a simulation whose logic is based on simple mathematics. BulkStoxexcel is being developed as an adjunct to the main BulkStox algorithm and ideally suits those users who prefer the use of spreadsheet technology &/or those with limited Internet coverage. In this beta release, the model calculates volumes & tonnages identically with that of its bigger cousin is & also configured to the same shapes for consistency. The one aspect this spreadsheet release lacks is there is not read/write to/from a secure database ‐ yet!

The BulkStoxexcel panel

From the screen capture below, it can now be seen the panel is designed to look as close to the web version as possible. Given the decision not to incorporate Visual Basic macro programming the vanilla mode here has to resort to embedded excel "magic tricks" to keep the simulation as close as possible to the original version.

The shapes dropdown contains ALL the variants available on the web version & the reference point field disappears once the shapes for sheds or bunkers are selected. In the latest version, the error trapping process has been implemented to replicate those introduced in the web-app & will be regularly updated. Keep abreast of changes, bug-fixes, & enhancements in the release notes.

The Angle of repose & Bulk-density are locked & only by changing the commodity will these two fields adjust according to the data hard-coded into the model. Don't @ me for this. The Volume adjustment field is designed to accommodate the presence of hopper bottoms for silos &/ or camber adjustments for bunkers etc. Rather than resort to a lengthy description here the video below contains a demonstration of the tool in use.
